Doctor's Cave Beach Bathing Club

(highest recommendation)

Don’t want to drive 40 minutes to Negril?  Drive 15 minutes to a pristine white sand beach and translucent aqua water in Montego Bay instead! Doctor’s Cave Beach allows no radios, no footballs, and no vendors. It is large, quiet, beautiful, secure and well managed. The immaculate changing rooms offer indoor and outdoor showers.

Water sports are available for reasonable fees, and three 20’ water trampolines are free. Admittance fee for Doctor’s Cave Beach is $5 and all services (beach umbrellas, canvas sling chairs, floats) are $5 or less. You can also rent towels for $3.  Snorkel equipment and jet skis cost more.

If you are hungry, the excellent Groovy Grouper Bar & Grill is a short walk across the sand. The open-air snack bar sells meat patties and burgers.

If you are interested in shopping for souvenirs, the lively “hip strip” is located just outside the gate.

The crystal clear water has a temperature range winter and summer from 78 to 84 degrees Fahrenheit, 22 to 28 Celsius. Doctor’s Cave Beach was named one of the “best family beaches in the Caribbean” by Caribbean Travel & Life in March 2004.
